why do drivers on dual carriageways and motorways insist on drivind in the outside lane when there is nobody using the inside lane. is this a macho thing. The rules of the road says that you use the inside lane except when overtaking or allowing trafic onto the carriage way from your left or in slow moving traffic. not to show how good you are by staying in the outside lane

Great Post. I was also told that a couple of decades ago the government handed out driving licenses to a huge number of people as they could not cope with the back log of driving tests. Is this true or urban myth ??

I can’t see the problem here.
All of a sudden so many people seem to have been born with the rules of the road embedded into their brain and were able to drive before they could walk.
You have so many issues I think you need professional help.
Please stick to the point. You don’t like Learner drivers ?? Were you not a learner some day!! Did you pass the test first time, would you pass it now if you took it? I know what the law says but our overworked Gardai spend so much time harassing Learner drivers the have enough trouble without you putting the boot in. Remove the log from your own eye before removing it from others. By the way spell check is a handy tool.

Believe me, the best ‘fun’ of all are truck drivers, late at night, going through rural villages. NONE of them will do 50 kph. Once I had a guy overtake me and force me to take evasive action – he pulled in ‘early’ and nearly hit me with the trailer.

Just today a complete dickhead sped up when I tried to ‘filter on’ to the N11 Dual Carriageway. He slowed down once I was forced to pull out behind him. These bastards are getting people killed, but I find that Bray Gardai take more than one complaint as the complainant being a ‘crank’, so I don’t bother reporting any longer.

Hold your speed, and drop to 15 k.p.h. if you need to. I wouldn’t pull in, because often times the dickhead in question won’t overtake, or 10 cars will try to fit in to the space for 3 in front of you. If they’re behind, Fuck ‘em, basically. I always drive at the limit, but if someone tries to bully me I go on a ‘go slow’.

Lol .. that last bit should strike a chord with the Taxi drivers

Car rear ends you… its not automatically the other drivers fault.
You make a big mistake even thinking that way.
What you have said by making that point shows you are just as willing to break the law for your own means.
Sounds like you just wanted to give the taxi driver a hard time….a good professional would just move over and let him go about his work…. not piss him off.

Nick, go back and read Senna’s post properly. Senna was being overtaken at the time, so by definition could not have been in the overtaking lane. The eejit in the Civic was tailgating the car that was overtaking Senna.

Avon Barksdale, just wanted to reply to your statement to the other poster that his comments could land him in jail. Your actions of locking some elses property sites to vandalism. You have no right to put a lock on someones bike. If you were to lock my wheel I would have you charged for same.

From what I’ve seen from the majoity of the posts people here that actually cycle know the deal with the state of our cycle Track/lanes. I’m both a cyclist and driver. Though at the moment I’m more of the latter. In saying that I really don’t see the problem with cyclists not using the lanes. It’s not exactly the hardest manoeuvre in the world to go around a cyclist safely. It’s another case of the impatient driver.

it finally happened.
There’s no reason this shouldn’t apply to pillocks in SUV’s towing horseboxes at 40 km/h.
So, get your videocamera out, have the passenger film proceedings and bring the evidence to the Gards.
With a bit of luck that b*stard won’t be holding anyone up for a year or so.
