So I wondered if I have the answer to boy-racers on our roads. Buy them Cliff Richards new album for Christmas and watch as they sit patiently in traffic while waving other vehicles on ahead of them, with a polite smile and a wee wink. I believe this could actually be the solution. I will email same to the Road Safety Authority. They may make it mandatory. 

This photo was taken on Sunday at Ivans Cross, Limerick 2 hours after the Sunday game had ended at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. I was stuck at the junction for 40 mins without moving once, the lights went dozens of times but we couldn’t move….why?

Because of the basic ignorance of Limerick drivers. A handful of drivers swamped the yellow box from the city side, then got stuck there so nobody could move at all. Lights changed over and over again and no-one could move because of these idiots. Worse again, A guard stood on the corner of Ivans and watched all this, I was so p**sed off that I let a roar at the guard to clear the yellow box. He eventually stepped out and forced them off the box and down to Coonagh roundabout.

People of Limerick, life would be so much more pleasant for all of us if you started opening your eyes and had some consideration for other road users. Also, could the Gaelic grounds please organize traffic clearance with the guards on such occasions. It’s embarrassing when you consider the Stad De France, Paris and surrounding traffic can be completely cleared in 10 minutes. I know it’s no comparison but you get my point I hope.

It is a desperate and serious situation here, people park on double yellows at all times and in very conspiciouous locations. Drivers genuinely do not seem to know what to do at a pedestrian crossing (the pedestrian crossings at the Shannonbridge roundabout primarily) and worse than that, they have developed awful driving habits such as blocking yellow boxes and not using their indicators.

Speed is not such a huge issue here but rather, lack of good practice regarding the basic rules of the road. Limerick people are not stupid, they are merely resonding to a lack of rule enforcement. There is a broad and tangible belief by Limerick drivers that they are immune to penalty. The truth of is..they are. Please explain this to me, it seems outrageous.

In order to own and operate a Chav Wagon you must adhere to the following rules:

1. You must be a dull, pain in the ar*e forty something woman with at least 2 children.
2. You must never be a man unless you are short, round, slightly balding and ‘did good’ in some sort of manual work i.e. glazing, plumbing. (note: no friends is a bonus)
3. You feel an uneasiness about whether or not you are actually ‘cool’ until you climb aboard your suped up Hi-Ace (Chav Wagon).
4. But more importantly, you should never obey the basic rules of the road. Who do those other insignificant vehicle drivers think they are to tell you what to do? After all you’re the f**king KingPin, the Head Honcho in your Bit*h Machine. Why use one lane when your knacker wagon can use them all at once? Why join the car owning plebs in the fruitless bid to merely drive well when you can drive BIG!
5. Finally, you should never ‘park’ your chav wagon…but leave it somewhere near, even if that is the centre line of a narrow road….just in case you can’t remember where you parked the ton of turd.
