if you pass your test in an automatic, your licence won't cover you to drive a manual, you will always have to drive automatics, only if you pass in a manual can you drive both

A comment on the kompressor. I do not hink all Kompressors are automatic and if in drive it will not roll back so it must have been manual.

On Learner permit holders who are inadequate drivers, I believe that there are now a considerable number of drivers on the road who are finding it extremely difficult to atain the test standard.
The problem is mostly relating to poor motor skills and swithcing to automatic transmission may be the answer to gaining a licence.
Drivers who have been on the road for a long number of years and who have not passed the driving test are often driving without using the mirrors to any great extent.
This translates to poor awareness of what traffic is following behind.
It very discourteos to hold up following traffic like the driver of the trailer did. This also leads to frustration and anger for following drivers.

I was led to this board while researching how many automatic cars are on Irish roads. Does anybody know. Martin

well i just finished my first pretest today and i have to say it is the correct way to drive by looking in every mirror all the time weather turning left right forward backwards. sticking to the speed limit everytime having two heads instead of one. cause i've been driving now 1 year and am very observant i tought i was but after the pretest i can see how dangerous it is by not looking in all directions while reversing turnig either way. bad habits are a big problem with drivers myself included so if i pass my test after a few more pretests im going to stick to what i was tought from the tester. its safer that way. good luck.

the only reason why so many people fail their test is because it is completely unrelated to current driving conditions. current driving conditions state that speed signs list the min speed allowed not the max.tailgating and beeping for anyone causing the loss of 10 secounds of valuable time is encouraged. about 10% of cars adhere to driving test rules.the rest of us just throw off the l plates and drive whatever way we want pretending we are expert drivers. How many car wrecks of fatal crashs in the newspaper have L plates on them?
