Driving in Galway these days is just so difficult what with pedestrians being stupid and ignorant.
This evening as I was coming home, I was approaching traffic lights coming from town towards Riverside and the lights were amber. I slowed down & proceeded to stop and as I did I could see a male on my right hand side taking a shortcut through a fence and approaching the lights.
There was a van heading in the opposite direction to me and as the lights turned green I went to move off but the pedestrian walked straight out in front of the van & he saw me & stopped in the road. I pointed to him to cross & gestured towards where the pedestrian man was clearly red, he looked up and turned round and proceeded to laugh at me and walk off!

Them & us? We are our own worst enemy when we're not driving, tsk. Imagine the scene if the Rules of the Road were actually regulated for ALL road users – pedestrians are bound by them too. We'd get so uptight for getting done because we didn't cross at a suitably marked pedestrian crossing at an indicated time or when traffic conditions were clear. What's your point?
I see a lot of that in Limerick, pedestrians seem to wait for the little man to turn and green and then amble oblivious across the road. I wave at them, but not to let them across, but to advise them if they want to end up as pavement pizza, then by all means hurl yourself under a car, but not me.
