i know when some people read this they just might think i’m biased towards foreign drivers but today i was driving along the M50 when all of a sudden these 2 foreign cars with plates that read [LT] where we have [IRL] moved close behind me i was doing the limit of 120km per hour and the guy behind me kept on flashing me with his headlights to get out of his way and he kept on doing this to the other cars infront of him. he was weaving in between the two lanes trying to get ahead of everyone. to me it seemed like both of them were racing each other. if i knew the phone number of the local guards there i would have rang them to let them know about these 2 dangerous idiots on our roads.

The amount of foreign drivers in ireland is crazy driving with a left hand drive car, and driving like a lunatics.
This is actually one of my major pet hates as these guys and girls do not pay road tax in ireland, do not pay insurance, do not have to pass an NCT and it sickens me when they force you off the road, our into a hard shoulder to get out of there way or they will hit you or somebody else.
I have seen these people cause accidents and have personally known of them causeing deaths on our roads. But the gardai cannot do much with them they can't give penelty points. SO there is no deteriant.
Oh well rant over i know i probably sound racist and against eastern europeans but its not just them, its german, french etc. But the english are just as bad too!
I suppose the only thing you could of done was ring 999 & ask for the station in your area.
It is very frightening when this happens. I had something similar last Wednesday. I was going over the Quincentennial Bridge here in town. Some idiot had stopped blocking both lanes. He had plenty of room to pull up but just wouldn't. I beeped once to let him know I was there & he wouldn't move.
A guy coming in the outside lane flashed me to go by & I did. I went up to the red light & as I'm going by the idiot I see he's giving me the finger. Me being the lady that I am gave it right back to him.
I pull up & stop at the light & the next thing I know idiot is barreling up the road behind me. He was flying! I was sure he was going to ram me! He pulls right up behind me & starts gesturing at me. You know the type. He was behind me the whole way out to the dual carriageway. Gesturing & laughing all the way thinking himself quite intelligent.
I went out the dual carriageway & thought ok, forget about him, he's an idiot. Next thing I know he's beside me. I pulled up to get away from him & he went faster (thankfully there was no other drivers on the road).
This went on the whole way up the road, the faster I went the faster he went. If I slowed down he'd slow down. Next thing I know there was a car in front of him. All of a sudden he shot in in front of me. I seen him laughing as he went by so I knew what he was doing. As he came in front of me I shot in where he had been. As I did this he slammed his breaks on. He was trying to get me to rear end him.
This was fun to this guy. Unfortunately they are out there. People say ring the Gardai. Tell them what happened. Get this guy done. When you get on to the Gardai they want witnesses. They want the guy waiting there for them. In other words they want their job done for them. So even if you had the number of the local Garda station they probably wouldn't have done anything anyway.
Dont bother.Cops wont do anything cos theyre too fat and lazy.Foreign drivers are too much hassle so they dont bother.Foreign drivers know this so they do what they want.This is not a racist comment,just statment of fact.Ask a Pole or Czech etc. they'll tell you the same.
It is a well known fact that a great majority of 'eastern european' drivers who are currently driving in Ireland do not have a valid drivers licence.
I work with a large organisation that employs a lot of eastern european's and they get a great laugh out of producing random documentation when stopped by guards and asked for licences/insurance etc.
One guy even showed them a Polish library ID card. The guards cannot dispute the information cos they haven't a clue what they're supposed to be looking at!
Regualtion is an absolute necessity at this stage.
No point calling the Guards. I did it once. Having been overtaken on a double white line by a Polish car (and I was at the limit with cruise control on), I spotted him a few minutes later in the Lidl car park (where else?) in New Ross. I rang the Guards, reported the incident and said I would wait until they showed up and point out the car to them. When the Guard turned up (within a few minutes, in fairness), he made it very clear that it was a pointless exercise and that all he could do was "have a word".
Natural Selection does remove a few of them from the roads and indeed this world, but often they take out innocent people as well and anyway there are still loads of them left.

You actually reported someone for crossing a white line !!!!!! How sad is that ?? I suppose you're one of those people who follows tractors etc……for miles….and won't cross the white line. Or perhaps you do overtake the tractors…….which makes you a hypocrite. Get a life man…..and stop being racist. And what's wrong with shopping in lidl?? Don't tell me you think it's a "class" thing….mind you, you did stress that you have cruise control so perhaps lidl is just a bit too down market.
Anyway, this site is about shite IRISH drivers….and there are many more of them about than foreign nationals
Petrolhead, it is my understanding that this site is about shite drivers in Ireland, irregardless of their nationality. If they are on our roads then they're fair game.

I call 11890 no matter where I see someone do something retarded on our roads(eg, cross a continuous white line) because its against the law! And its dangerous to others. So even if that guy only got a talking to, at least he can spread the word that he got caught.and maybe people would stop being so stupid!
Petrolhead…youre obviously the idiot who breaks the speed limits,runs red lights and doesnt understand the reason for a continous white line…regardless of a tractor slow you down, god love ya…was your mammys dinner on the table??
In Germany you are allowed to overtake tractors on a continous white line, intelligence at work there.
I have to agree with petrolhead here. If someone wants to cross a continuous white line then what difference is it to you? Also GalwayNutter, seems like you should spend more time concentrating on the road then going faster, slowing down and watching this fella laughing and gesturing at you ConcernedDriver – why are you in the overtaking lane of the M50 if you are not overtaking? If this guy wants to speed LET HIM! Why is it your responsibility to make sure he drives at 120km, you are putting yourself in danger. Chances are you will see him a few miles down the road with his car wrapped into a barrier and presto one less mad driver on the road RANT OVER!

White lines SHOULD be there for a reason……….but in Ireland all too often they are there for NO reason.
Also, bad driving on irish roads and bad driving by irish people is unfortunately one and the same thing 99% of the time.
SPUD: I do understand the reason for continuous white lines….but the people who put them down on the roads obviously don't. They're in the wrong place all too often. Sometimes you have to drive with common sense and intelligence….not just what the rules of the road say.
I'm actually a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists in the UK having passed a lenghty test conducted by a UK police class 1 driver.
So i'm not as bad as you think.
Right, firstly can you show me where I said I was on the M50? I have never actually driven on the M50!
Secondly "anti-petrolhead" if you wish to drive along calmly & have some guy try to run you off the road that's up to you! I won't do that! I will try to get away from them no matter what! I was not putting other road users in danger as the road was empty! I don't care what speed he went at, all I cared about was that he didn't write myself & my car off! I was in the overtaking lane because I couldn't move into the inside lane because of this guy! I tried & he sped up. He was going to hit me! I have every right to protect myself & my property.
& thirdly, you call yourself "anti-petrolhead" yet the first thing you say is:
"I have to agree with petrolhead here."
I think you need to go back to school to both learn to read & the difference between pro & anti!
