Disabled spaces are for the physically disabled not mentally!

Idiot! If you own this car you are a gobshite! The council have painted these spaces blue to make it more obvious that they are for PHYSICALY (not mentally) disabled people! Just because you’re an idiot doesn’t mean you can park there & just go off & do what ever the hell you want because you are so lazy you can’t be arsed to walk more then 5 feet.
As you can see I had to park right up behind the car because there was no other spaces my mother had to go to the bank. She had no choice.

Mental Disability effects the legs? :-O

This drives me insane in Galway City. People are just so selfish when it comes to parking. The worst offenders for me are out in Joyces Supermarket in Knocknacarra. I have to say when they are told about it they are very quick to call out the reg number & explain to the people they have to move their cars. But they shouldn’t have to do this. The spaces are painted bright blue & have big white wheelchairs on them. What’s so difficult to figure out about that?

While I agree with you, in general, "Stupid" and "Mentally disabled" are not interchangeable terms. I know plenty of "mentally disabled" people (members of Rehab Care) who are anything BUT "stupid".

Oh I fully agree with you Niall, those mentally disabled people can be some of the most intelligent people you will ever meet in your life. But when I say mentally disabled I mean that there mentally ability to think about what they are putting physically disabled people who are not as fit as they through. Those are the ones I was talking about. Sorry if I didn't' make that clear enough! :D

A problem that reaches every corner of our society. People with disabilities do not want special treatment or  to be singled out among the crowd as if they were freaks of nature. They just want to be afforded the courtesy of the facilities that were put in place in order for them to become an integral part of our community. Unfortunately people do not see it this way and violate the spaces that help make people with disabilities become an inclusive part of our society. I notice that at bus stops the people who consistently infringe that right to access by people with disabilities are taxis drivers who work as public service vehicle operator. Ah laugh at all cost.
It takes no thought from someone with a Phd. in science to know that stopping in or around a bus stop will cause discomfort to those who require the area to be vacant in order to board or disembark from a bus, never mind the driver having to manoeuvre the bus so that people with disabilities can conduct their daily affairs without having to be spotlighted for their situation. There again, I have for my part received my share of threatening emails from drivers who cannot accept that public opinion is against them and therefore they need to change their approach to their method of driving.  The main problem rests with our authorities inability or unwillingness to address the problem by  targeting individual sections of our society with advertising campaign that identify certain sections of that society as contributors to our ongoing road safety problems.

Two wrongs never make a right. Some people just cannot see the trees from the grass.
